Final Project Screenprint ~Sunflower~

For our final project we had to draw a design and make 3 tracings of it. After we finished tracing it we had to cut out different parts to each tracing for each color we were going to use. I did not get to take 5 pictures of my project but I took a picture from when I first started to when I was completely finished. The hardest part about this project was probably cutting out the shapes because some were smaller than others and I had to be more careful. The easy part about this project was doing the paint because it didn't take much effort, all you had to do was paint inside the cut out shape pretty much. My favorite thing about my painting is the flower part, I think it came out looking quite pretty like an actual sunflower. However, I didn't like how the stems of my flower turned out a bit sloppy and the paint looked watery. I'm pretty happy with how my final turned out, I could've done a bit better if I tried again but I was a little short on time. Either way, I still had a lot of fun doing this. It has been one of my favorite projects to work on this year.

Easter Bunny

This was a pretty interesting project to work on. We had to pick 2 or more different animals and combine them together to make 1 animal. I chose to make a half bunny/half turtle for my project. I made this animal have the head and tail of a bunny with the shell of a turtle. The easiest part of this project was surprising making the shell. The most difficult part of this was keeping the feet on because for some reason they kept falling off, it was also kind of hard working on the face. My favorite part was painting the clay because I love using paint, but it was a bit annoying painting the small areas. My least favorite part about this project was how dirty the clay made my hands. Overall I'm happy with how my project turned out. I would do something like this again.

Tiger R.O.A.R

For this project we were able to work with a partner. Sara and I worked together on creating this poster for our high school. I painted the background on this poster, and Sara designed it and drew the letters for it. I liked this project because I enjoy working with paint. A reason I didn't like this project is because it was time consuming and messy. The easy part about this project was designing the background and tracing. The hard part about this project was getting the right colors to paint with. My favorite part about this poster is how the drawing turned out. My least favorite part about this poster is the letters don't stand out enough. Overall I had fun with this project.

Pastel landscape

For this project we had to go online and search for a landscape we wanted to recreate with pastel. I chose this particular landscape because I thought the sky looked amazing and a good choice of colors. It also had an interesting mood in the picture. I also chose this landscape because I really liked drawing the tree. It was simple but fun to add and the grass that went along with it. At first I found it a little bit difficult to blend the skies into looking less boxy but after some work it blended out nicely. My favorite part about this whole drawing is where the bright yellow section bursts into a pink and purple color. My least favorite thing about this drawing is that the grass is a black color instead of a more bright color. I really enjoyed drawing this landscape and i'm proud at how it turned out. It took a total of 2 days to complete. I would like to do a project like this again in the future.

Landscape practice

This is a landscape of a sunset on an island we did together as a class. We used chalk pastels while drawing. We did a lot of color blending and it was quite messy, but enjoyable.

Childhood in charcoal

This project is named "Childhood in charcoal." I named it this because the items I used in this drawing remind me of childhood and life before technology takes over kids. My favorite part about drawing this was drawing the little toy block, it looks simple, yet realistic. I really like how the letters stand out on the block and how the stitches stand out in the baseball. Something about this drawing I found difficult was drawing as much detail as I could to my objects without smudging them and making them look sloppy. It was hard blending in the colors around my objects to make the picture look more full. This project took me 3 days to draw but I definitely enjoyed doing it. I would love to work with charcoal again.

Piet Mondrian

Born: March 7th 1872
Died: February 1st 1944
Type of art: Painting
Style/movement: De stijl art movement

How did he learn to make art? He radically simplified the elements of his paintings to reflect what he saw as the spiritual order underlying the visible world.

In this picture I see a bunch of shapes mixed together to make bigger shapes. I also see different designs in the way the shapes are placed and different sizes of shapes. I see red, blue, yellow, and brown colors in this picture. I see mostly triangles and lines. By his art work I can tell he likes patterns and to be random and draw whatever comes to mind, whether it's simple or hard. This art makes me feel happy with all of its bright colors.

In this art work I see a tube in the center with walls surrounding it. I see black, white, red, dark blue, and yellow colors. I noticed the white and yellow colors stick out the most. I see a bunch of little and big rectangles and skinny and fat ones as well. I can tell he's a really creative person and likes to mix shapes together. This art makes me curious to what it's purpose was and what the object was supposed to be in the center.

Shoe drawing

I drew a pair of  my sandals for my shoe assignment. I picked these pair of shoes because I liked the way the bottom came up. Another thing I like about these shoes are the gem designs on the top of my shoes. The thing I didn't like about these shoes were the letter G's printed on the edge. The part I like about how I drew this was the laces of the shoe laying nicely and looking well done. The part I didn't like drawing was the outline of the shoe itself. The part I had trouble on while drawing this was getting the shading right so you can tell from it's different parts. Overall I enjoyed observing them and drawing them. If i could i might've changed the outline of the shoe but other than that I wouldn't change anything else. I would definitely draw something like this again.

Eye Portrait

For my eye portrait assignment I drew a butterfly with an eye inside of it. My earlier idea was to draw something darker, maybe with some fire but this seemed more positive. I chose to draw this because personally butterflies seem like shy beautiful creatures and also so colorful and mysterious. Butterflies were always my favorite insect to draw and observe. They also remind me of actual people because I think everyone is beautiful and deep inside are a butterfly coming out of their cocoon to show the world their true colors. The thing I like most about my drawing is the wings of the butterfly look so perfect and beautiful. The thing I dislike about this drawing is the inside of the eye, I wish the colors would have blended together better. I also wish there was more paper so I could it a nicer background. I was in a good mood drawing this that's one of the reasons the colors are bright and happy. All together I'm happy with my drawing and I wouldn't change a thing.
